Manoscritti umanistici della biblioteca "A. Mai"
Avvertenze
Premessa dell’Autore a Iter Supplementum
The execerpts in Iter I, pp. 6-8, were based on an alphabetical inventory by Secco Suardo and cross-checked in an alphabetical card file. A new typed inventory in four volumes, compiled by Mons. Luigi Chiodi and arranged according to shelf-marks, was kindly shown to me in 1974. It includes the recently acquired group Alpha (Fondo Locatelli), for which there is also a separate topographical inventory entitled
Sala Manoscritti Alpha. The following excerpts and descriptions will supplement Iter I, pp. 8-16, and II, p. 497, and supersede Iter I, pp. 6-8. References to Iter I and II will be regularly given where pertinent. I am indebted for much information to Mons. Luigi Chiodi and for extensive help to Signorina Dora Coggiola. Additional information was supplied by Dott. Mariarosa Cortesi. See now: J. Agrimi,
Tecnica e scienza nella cultura medievale, Florence, 1976, pp. 1-46.
More recently most of the manuscripts have received new shelf-marks, which have been communicated to me, for all mss, that are of interest to us, along with additional information, by the director of the library, Dott. Gianni Barachetti. The new shelf-marks reflect the following classification: A = Archivio; AB = Archivio Bergamasco; MA = Manoscritti Antichi; MAB = Manoscritti Antichi Bergamaschi; MM = Manoscritti Moderni; MMB = Manoscritti Moderni Bergamaschi. We have retained the arrangement of the mss. according to their old shelf-marks but have added the new shelf-marks for each entry, whether excerpt or description. One recently acquired ms., which has no old shelf-mark, will be described at the end of the Fondo Principale; a few mss. marked as Cassapanco or Sala I will be listed at the end of the excerpts of the same Fondo Principale.
Fondo Principale
The manuscript group whose old shelf-marks begin with Alpha is also known as
Fondo Locatelli.
